As part of their world culture curriculum our second grade class learned about the country and culture of Ethiopia. Their service learning project this year blossomed out of that initial investigation and led them to discover the “Little Dresses for Africa” project. The project outlines directions for the creation of dresses by tie-dying pillowcases, sewing straps, and finally shipment to Africa. In cooperation with some very skilled parent volunteers our second grade class produced twenty dresses! This is true service learning in action!
